Knoll Quilt Restoration
Unbelievably beautiful and innovative art quilts are being made by 21st century quilters. They will be marvelled at for generations to come, and justifiably treasured as the output of our most recent quilting revival.
But older quilts celebrate an art of their own: a quiet art, precise and calming, predictable but sometimes surprising, speaking of days and people now long gone. Many of these treasured old quilts show damage from use, neglect, and the simple passage of time.
My joy and aspiration is to restore such quilts to their former look. As I work on these quilts, stitch by stitch I join with the original maker in creating a beautiful textile and a beloved treasure.
