If you bring or send your quilt to me, I first enjoy hearing about its history and connection to you. We then discuss what you would like to have done with it, and how you hope to use it.
While it is in my possession, it is tagged and carefully logged into my files, kept safe and clean, and photographed. I can assure you that at all times it is treated with care and sensitivity.
I will examine it and develop at least one estimate and course of action that fits your goals for the quilt, and will contact you to discuss it within about a week. In addition to restoration, options might include resizing it, sleeving it, providing an historical label, washing it, completing a top or blocks into a quilt, etc. I will also estimate about when the project will be completed.
If you choose to have me restore the quilt, I request a 25% downpayment for the upcoming work. For quilts shipped to me (see below), the initial $25 will be applied to that downpayment.
When the work is completed, I will contact you for pick-up or to arrange to send it back to you. No quilt can leave my home until full payment has been received.
GETTING YOUR QUILT TO ME
When your quilt is being shipped to me, please take the following steps:
- Contact me first so that we can discuss your quilt before you ship it (or bring it).
- Send your quilt to me via UPS. I suggest insuring it.
- Enclose a check for $25 made out to "CKQR" to cover return insured shipping and a portion of the time required to analyze the quilt and provide an estimate.
Notify me when you are about to ship it, so that I can be watching for it. I will contact you when it has arrived.
